Actual Size is pleased to present If You Bought $5 of Bitcoin 7 Years Ago, You’d Be $4.4 Million Richer, an exhibition incorporating sculpture by Reinhart Selvik and photo-based work by Maura Murnane. Their disparate interests overlap in the projection of consciousness onto things -- a sensitivity to the lifespan of objects.

This is the last of three consecutive exhibitions by the graduating artists in the MFA program at UC Irvine. Each week features two artists in conversation.

Maura Murnane (b. Dhahran, Saudi Arabia) makes work about mindfulness, absent-mindedness, spiritual materialism, and dissonant experience in designed spaces (retail, the gym, the work place, and so on). She was formerly employed in and around the commercial photography industry in NYC; before that she studied Design at the University of Texas at Austin.

Reinhart Selvik (b. Long Beach, California) explores the interconnection between architecture and the body. His work focuses on the internalization of the city, of sidewalks, of homes and the psychological impact that environments can produce. The trauma of the past, and the ghostly traces of the history embedded in architecture cycle back into the present through objects. Selvik recieved his B.A. from the University of California, San Diego, and his MFA from the University of California, Irvine.
